Andy Ferrera, Principal

Pronouns: he /him

Professional Experience: Andy is a Principal at Kinetic West and joined the team in 2018. Andy began his career as an elementary school teacher in Washington, DC, before returning home to the Pacific Northwest in the Seattle office for the Boston Consulting Group. Andy's work centers on collective impact / system strategy and implementation – focusing on workforce development, education, homelessness, and housing that bring together community, government, business, labor, non-profits, and philanthropy to work together towards a common goal. Andy has an MBA from the University of Michigan and a Bachelor's in Environmental Studies from Dartmouth College.

Why I do this work: I believe that designing equitable, user-centered systems requires closing the distance between groups of people who believe in the same goals, but who don't normally work together. We all want robust education systems, housing for everyone, safe communities, and good paying jobs – but we can't expect philanthropy, government, business, community, or non-profits to do it on their own. I spend my time helping build system strategies that bring together diverse skillsets and lived expertise from across stakeholders to get big things done.

Where you’ll find me when I’m not consulting: You'll likely find me doting on our dog Watson, trying out new recipes, watching the Great British Baking Show, or out skiing. When we can, my wife Kahlie and I love to travel – especially to the Oregon Coast.
