Alex Chase (she/her)
Senior Consultant
Professional Experience: Alex is a Senior Consultant at Kinetic West and brings over a decade of experience working in nonprofits and local government. Her expertise includes community engagement and collaboration, project management, racial & social justice advocacy and training, data analysis, program evaluation, and group facilitation through a framework of Intergroup Dialogue. Prior to joining Kinetic West, Alex was a Planning & Development Specialist at the City of Seattle Office of Arts & Culture, where she managed and facilitated community-led selection panels through a lens of equitable grantmaking. Alex has also worked at the City of Seattle Office of Housing, Racing to Equity Consulting Group, United Way of King County, Seattle Arts & Lectures, KEXP, and several service-focused nonprofits working directly with youth and families. She holds a Master’s in Social Work from the University of Washington with a specific focus on Community Centered Integrative Practice, which is a community-driven relational practice in which Social Workers effect transformative social justice change in community while being accountable to those most impacted and furthest from justice.
Why I do this work: Author and activist Arundhati Roy once said, “Another world is not only possible, she is on her way. On a quiet day, I can hear her breathing.” I truly believe that another way of living is possible, and through sustained commitment and action, we can create the world we want to be a part of. It is this belief that fuels me in my personal and professional life and grounds me in my commitment to the work of racial and social justice. I am grounded in the belief that every person and community has inherent and valuable strengths and resources, and that as a Community Centered Social Worker, it is my role to leverage and uplift these assets using equitable community-led processes to deliver socially just outcomes. As a queer woman, I am especially dedicated to fighting for the LGBTQIA+ community and ensuring our stories, perspectives, and voices are heard, particularly those of trans and nonbinary people of color.
Where you’ll find me when I’m not consulting: You’ll likely find me spending time with my spouse, Stephan, and our dog, Tegan. I love dinner parties with friends, going to concerts and local theater, camping, and spending sunny days outside on the water and rainy days inside with a good TV show or puzzle. I like to unwind by going to yoga, reading, spending time in my pottery studio, or deep cleaning random parts of my house when I should be doing other more important things.
