Professional Experience: Emma Kallaway is a Partner at Kinetic West. Her expertise includes policy analysis, stakeholder engagement, non-profit management, and post-secondary education systems. Prior to joining Kinetic West Emma was the Government Relations Director at Portland Community College, Oregon's largest higher education institution focused on equitable student success. Emma has an MBA with an emphasis in public policy and marketing from Willamette University. She is a board member at the Oregon Student Foundation (former ED) and Partnership for Safety and Justice (Treasurer).

Why I do this work: I started working in post-secondary education advocacy because I needed a great deal of support (IEP plans and disability services) to get through school and achieve my goals - I know firsthand how a dedicated group of adults can change the trajectory of a person’s life. As a queer person, I live in a world where public systems can work against the needs of myself and my family. I am dedicated to helping all sectors work together for greater equity.

Where you’ll find me when I’m not consulting: You can find me…

  • Working in my shop and tinkering on my house.

  • Playing in nature - running, hiking, snowshoeing, and paddleboarding (even in the rain).

  • Cooking with my family or talking about food or reading new recipes or finding someplace new to eat.
